David Beckham says he called good friend Tom Cruise before accepting a multi-million dollar contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy, Reuters reports."Obviously I asked him for his advice because he is a very wise man and a very good friend of mine," Beckham told journalists about his two phone calls with Cruise. "It's going to be a big help for us to have friends when we arrive in L.A."
Beckham, 31, who had been discussing contract renewal with his current team Real Madrid, has experienced a slight career slump in the last year, losing the captain slot of the English team in last summer's World Cup. He announced Thursday that he and his family would move to Los Angeles after her finishes playing in Madrid this season.
"After discussing several options with my family and my business advisers I have decided to join (the) L.A. Galaxy and play in the MLS (Major League Soccer) from August," Beckham said in a statement.
