The script is an adaptation of the Stan Lauryssen book called 'Dali and I' and filming will begin in June in New York and Spain. Niccol is rewriting the script they acquired as a spec written by John Salvati.
The movie will span the 1960s-80s, a time when most of Dali's great work was behind him and he became more flamboyant. The story also will focus on a mentor-protege relationship between Dali and Stan Lauryssens, a young art dealer, reports Reuters.
The film will be produced by Room 9 Entertainment partners David O. Sacks, Daniel Brunt and Michael R. Newman, who also produced the hit satirical film, "Thank You for Smoking," reports Variety.
